Background
Phu Bia Mining (PBM) has two active mining operations in the Province of Vientiane. The Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation was PBM’s first operation and Ban Houayxai Gold Silver Operation is the second operation. It is located in Xaisomboun Province.
PBM is committed to sustainable business practices to help local communities develop sustainable socio-economic livelihoods that will continue begond the life of its operations, and to building genuine relationships with local communities characterized by integrity, transparency, cooperation and mutual benefit.
PBM works closely with the Government of Laos and with local communities to develop and implement programs and projects in line with the Government of Laos’ National Socio-economic Development Plan. PBM focuses on education, health, agriculture, water and sanitation infrastructure and small business development.
Services Provided
ESL undertook the socio-economic survey in the area covering two villages and 783 households in Phu Kham Operation, and one village with a total of 200 households in Ban Houayxai. The service includes:
- Village and household level survey,
- Village mapping,
- Child anthropometric survey.
