Background

The SLACO had developed a bauxite mine and aluminum smelter in the Champassack and Attapeu Provinces of Lao PDR in year 2008-2010. SLACO had developed a bauxite mine and aluminum smelter in the Champassack and Attapeu Provinces of Lao PDR in year 2008-2010. During May – September in 2011, Yunnan AI Stock Corporation LTD. Cooperated with SLACO to agree to determine the site selection principle of new processing plant that should be closer to the mine on the Bolaven Plateau, SLACO had been done for Feasibility Study on new location including (plant site, water supply, power supply and transportation). The new processing plant located at approximately 100 km away from the east of Pakse city in Champasak Province, 40 km away from the east of Paksong region. No. 16 highway gets through the south side.

 

Services Provided

ESL managed the overall conduct of the ESIA including the studies.  These studies undertook in accordance with the Decree on Environmental Impact Assessment (Feb, 2012) and Environmental Impact Assessment Guidelines (MONRE, Nov 2011).

 

To assist Sino Lao Aluminum Corporation Limited (SLACO) in conducting and environmental and social Scoping Study and Term of Reference (ToR) for an ESIA (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) for the proposed new processing plant location of bauxite mine in southern Lao PDR.

 

ESL also conducts an environmental and social scoping study report and term of reference report for the preparation of the EIA study.
