Background

The Upgrading National Road No 8 (NR-8), in other name the Asian Highway (AH15) Network in Lao PDR, or the Project is located in Bolikhamxay and some part of Khammouan province with the total length of 130.3 km from Vieng Kham – Lak Sao and Nam Phao (Vietnam border). The Project Implementing Agency is Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) with collaboration of Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Lao PDR (MPWT).

 

Services Provided

ESL provided the Environmental Impact Review during the design of the Project. (This EIR serves different objectives from the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) or Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) which in this case it requires simple approaches on impact assessment for environment components of the Project. Scope of the study includes the following:

1. – Regulations reviews;
2. – Basic information on physical component, biological component and social component;
3. – Impact identification and assessment;
4. – Recommendation to the detail design.
