PRINCIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL CONSULTANT

ESL Company Limited (ESL) specializes in environmental and social consulting, research, and management services. With 25 years of experience, we have successfully delivered nearly 100 projects nationwide. We provide expert guidance to governments, industries, NGOs, and communities, driving sustainability across sectors like mining, energy, agriculture, and urban development. We are seeking a “Principal Environmental & Social Consultant” to join our team. Location: Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR
Contract Type: Full-Time (Long-term contract with annual review and renewal)

Position Overview:

The Principal Consultant will play a pivotal leadership role at ESL, overseeing high-impact environmental and social consulting projects and offering mentorship to our internal teams and interns. This full-time role is ideal for an experienced consultant who can take the lead on projects, guide staff, and contribute to business development efforts to expand ESL’s portfolio and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental and social consulting projects from planning to completion, ensuring quality in fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and quality assurance to meet client expectations.
  • Provide technical mentorship and training to ESL staff and interns through knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and hands-on guidance.
  • Advise on technical aspects of environmental and social assessments, including client-facing support for training and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Identify project opportunities, develop proposals, and support ESL’s growth.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to enhance consulting expertise.

Qualifications:

Master’s or Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Social Science, Sustainability, Environmental or Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity, or other related fields. Minimum 8 years of experience in environmental and social consulting, impact assessments, or related fields, with a proven track record of leading projects. Strong technical knowledge of environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA), environmental and studies, stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, and sustainability best practices. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor staff, and provide technical guidance. Experience in managing projects, ensuring quality assurance, and meeting deadlines. Ability to identify opportunities, contribute to proposals, and support ESL’s growth strategy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to work with a results-driven mindset and commitment to high-quality consulting services.
