POSITION OVERVIEW: The Environmental / Social / Health Specialist leads or supports consulting projects across the full lifecycle—proposal design, fieldwork, analysis, reporting, engagement, capacity building, and knowledge sharing. This full-time position is ideal for a consultant with solid technical capability who is ready to take increasing responsibility in project leadership, knowledge sharing, and business development, while actively contributing to ESL’s learning culture, visibility, and service portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead or support environmental and social consulting projects from planning to completion, ensuring high-quality fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and quality assurance processes.
- Contribute to proposal development and support business development activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical inputs and reviewing outputs.
- Contribute to internal capacity-building, learning sessions, development of knowledge products.
- Engage with clients, community stakeholders, and Government of Lao PDR representatives; support workshops, training sessions, and related logistics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in environmental science or engineering, social science, sustainability, development studies, public health, natural resource management, biodiversity, forestry, land management, surveying, rural development, or related fields.
- 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in one or more areas: ESIA, ESMMP, Socio-economic Survey, HIA, Community Engagement, Biodiversity Survey, Land Use Survey, M&E, Applied Research, E&S Studies, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Lao.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary consulting team.
- Willingness to travel for field or on-site assignments.
