Company Background:
Sepon is an open-pit and underground gold and copper mine located in Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates Sepon, with ownership divided between Chifeng Jilong Gold Mining Co., Ltd (90%) and the Lao Government (10%).

Services Provided:
ESL conducted the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) with the following scope of services:

Secondary Data Review:

    • Reviewing existing data on health issues in the project area.

Impact Identification and Assessment:

    • Identifying and assessing potential negative and positive impacts of the project on the health of individuals and communities within the project area.

Public Consultation:

    • Engaging with village authorities and relevant stakeholders through public consultations.

Management Measures Development:

    • Designing measures to prevent and reduce negative health impacts.
    • Proposing strategies to maximize potential health benefits arising from the project.

Recommendations and Reporting:

    • Providing actionable recommendations for the HIA.
    • Preparing reports, conducting public consultations, and revising reports to meet approval requirements by the Ministry of Health.
