The Health Impact Assessment (HIA) is one of major studies that needs to be assessed according to the law and regulation of GOL. In addition of Environmental Impact Assessment, therefore ESL has also been engaged in the HIA for the SLACO Project.
The project was studied in 2007 and received the Environmental Compliance Certificate in 2010 and extended to 2012. There are three main villages that will be impacted directly by the New Alumina Refinery Plant; and other 5 villages remaining from the Xepian-Xenamnoi Hydropower Project relocation that are still living in the project area.
The study process included the HIA screening consultation in March 2019 and the public consultation in May 2019 at Paksong district.
